The Board of Directors has the general operational control, direction and management of the affairs, funds and records of the Seychelles Credit Union
Board of Directors
The current composition of the Board is as follows:
Chairman - Mr. Selby Dora
Mr. Dora joined SCU in January 2002. He holds several qualifications in the fields of Education and is currently the Special Advisor to the Minister of Education. He is also very active in Sports Activities at national level. He was appointed as Chairman in January 2009, re-elected in 2012 and again in 2016.
Vice-Chairman - Mr. Bernard Elizabeth
Mr. Bernard Elizabeth became a Seychelles Credit Union pioneer when he was a Secondary School Teacher from 1967 to 1970.He holds overseas Certificates and Diplomas in Teacher Training, Community Development, and Social Policies Formulation. Mr. Elizabeth was a member of the National Assembly from 1975 to 1977.He has participated on a number of Constitutional Commissions, the last being the formulation of the current Constitution. He is also very active in Church Activities. He was also the Chairman of LUNGOS, Member of the Rotary Club and Chief Scout of the Seychelles Scouts Association. He served as Chairman of the Seychelles Credit Union from 1985 to 2001 and was very instrumental in Credit Union revitalization efforts of the African Credit Union movement (ACCOSCA) on which he served as a Board Member for many years. Mr Elizabeth was the Chief Executive Officer of SCU from August 2013 to September 2015. Mr Elizabeth was once again appointed as the Vice-Chairman of SCU Board of Directors, in 2016.
Member - Mr Divino Sabino
Mr Sabino has been a member of the Seychelles Credit Union since 2001. He is a practicing Attorney-at-Law and Notary. He holds a Bachelors degree in Law & Business Studies and a Masters of Laws. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and former part-time law lecturer at the University of Seychelles. Mr Sabino was elected as a Board Member of SCU in 2016.
Member - Mr. Emile Esparon
Mr Esparon started a career in teaching and taught at Secondary Level for 7 years up to July 1977. During that time he served as a Scout Leader as well as an Executive Committee member of the Seychelles Teachers’ Union. In 1975 he was elected to the Board of the Directors of the Seychelles Credit Union (SCU). In December 1977 he became the first full time employee of SCU. In the course of his employment he obtained Certificates in co-operative Management, Accounting (AAT), Management and Auditing, amongst others. He holds certificates from the Co-operative College of Kenya, The Coady Institute of the St. Francis Xavier University (Canada) and he was awarded the Certified SACCO Professional (CSP) Certificate from the Strathmore University, Kenya in 2005. He participated extensively in seminars, workshops as well as consultancies in various African countries organized by ACCOSCA and WOCCU. He has been very active within the NGO sector in Seychelles and the Indian Ocean Region (Francophone) and assisted in the setting up of the local NGO Umbrella Organization in Seychelles (LUNGOS) in the early 1990’s. He was elected to the Board of SCU in August 2009. In 2010, he was elected to the ACCOSCA Board of Directors and held the position of Secretary. He served in the position of Banking & Admin Executive of SCU from July 2007 up to June 2012. Thereafter, he served as CEO of SCU from July 2012 up to August 2013.
Member - Mr. Brian Julie
Mr. Julie has been a member of SCU since 1972 and was elected on the Board of Directors in September 2013. Mr. Julie holds several qualifications in the fields of Economics and Law and is currently working as a Barrister, Attorney-at-Law and Public Notary
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Ms. Ingrid Sinon
Ms. Sinon holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and pursuing a second Master’s Degree in Financial Law. She worked for the Central Bank Seychelles (CBS) for a period of five years. After leaving the CBS she joined the SCU as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) whilst also lecturing at the University of Seychelles on a part-time basis. Ms Sinon became CEO, effective October 01, 2015 and she is an ex-officio member of the Board.
